Ahh, missed that point about the basals staying steady in the absence of food.... then, of course, it has to be the bolus insulin. Yet, such a huge reduction in the bolus insulin... it would throw me for a curve as well, and I have been at this almost six years. We have seen crazy swings but for us it's usually basal related, evening, growth-spurt related. So you were right all along. These very young children... there does not seem to be any rules; anything we were taught goes right out the window. Glad the lows are manageable now. What a rocky ride you have been on. Whew!

Totally hear ya. I just wanna get off the roller coaster! But...uh...yeah. There's no getting off of the D-coaster. Adam was low in the mornings...changed basals...good for 3 days. Now he's high in the mornings - it's been 4 days...do I dare change basals again?? Ugh.

You know, I remember the CDE training us at the hospital. She said Matthew's range was 70-180 and she made it seem attainable. I honestly thought we'd just keep him there.

It's funny how we go through these cycles, too. Right now we're in a high cycle. We were going low at lunch every day for months; now suddenly we're high. I know as soon as I adjust, I'll probably just adjust back. Must be all the things going on in their growing bodies.
