Hanging with some D-Moms

I live for fun days like Thursday. Where you can hang with other Moms who just plain ol' "get it". Who are checking BGs right alongside you, fretting over high or low numbers, force-feeding their kid a snack before they run off and play, and watching, never quite 100% relaxed, and always with one eye on their child.

Thursday, Jessica with Liam and Peyton, Laura, with Emma, Sophie and Nate, and a new Mom, Leslie, with Brady; all schlepped to my part of town for some fun open gym time, and Chick-fil-a for lunch! The kids all had a blast and so did the Moms. I wish I had taken some more pics, but this is all I got...

D-Buddies!

I can't believe I forgot to post my pictures of our play date with Nate and Liam! Granted, I didn't get very many because my memory stick filled up and I didn't feel like going through 600+ pictures to see which ones I could delete.

Anyway, there's nothing like hanging with a couple of girls that are not only fun to be with, but totally, 100% get what you're going through. There was much laughing, chatting, carb-counting, weighing, eating, child-wrangling, and eyebrow-furrowing (when a weird number would pop up on someone's meter).

A lovely time spent with lovely ladies. Oh yeah, the kids are pretty adorable too!

JDRF Awards Dinner

Thursday night was the JDRF Awards Dinner in our area, and even though it was FREEZING out, we donned our Team Elise shirts and had a fine time hanging with Laura and her family.

The dinner was held at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, which Elise LOVED... she is so into airplanes, and wanted to climb into every plane she saw. Maybe we have a little pilot on our hands!

We got to enjoy a dinner I didn't have to cook, heard some encouraging information about research that is going on, and Team Elise received an award for the money that we raised. All in all, a pretty good night. Here are some pics:

New friends!

Today Elise and I made some new friends! Not really new, since we've exchanged emails, and chatted on the phone a handful of times. But today we actually got to meet the adorable Nate, and his beautiful Mommy Laura face-to-face!

Laura made the drive out to my neck of the woods for a playtime at the local rec center. It was just so great to sit and talk to someone who knows EXACTLY how you are feeling and what you are going through. No need to explain anything.

We managed to get a few cute pics of Elise and Nate together. None of us, mostly since I am suffering from a bad hair year.

Thanks Laura, I had a great time and I hope I didn't scare you off with my over-the-top, control-freaky, anal-retentive ways of handling diabetes!
